SPORTS

My favorite SPORT in the world is BASKETBALL. I love the PHYSICAL and MENTAL aspects of the game. I can run the court for hours at a time and not get tired. One of the reasons why I love the game so much is that you have to constantly change your style of play. Sometimes even within a single game. I got most of my strength and coordination growing up playing soccer. I did try those "Jumpsoles" once, but I could already jump so the motivation wasn't there to really follow the workout. I've heard great things about them though and I intend on getting a pair soon so I can keep up with the young-uns on the court.

Here's a pretty good online store where you can get gear: FogDog

Something I have learned over the years of playing Basketball and other sports is that if you play long enough you're going to get injured. Ankles, Knees, busted fingers, black eyes, stitches, broken teeth...I continue to play though because...unlike most NBA players, I just love the game...

I can't believe that they get paid as much as they do. Heck, pay me the league minimum and I'll come in off the bench and nail a few three's to get you back in the game. I'd play for half the league minimum. I can't believe how much these guys get paid. I get so tired of hearing about how 'underpaid' they all are - or rather they(being the players) think they are. Yeah the owners are makin' bank, but I don't blame them for not wanting to spend it all on players' salaries.

Which brings me to this whole 'Lock-out' thing. I, for one, am boycotting the NBA entirely whether or not the season get's under way. I'm so sick of hearing all of these millionaires whine about how much money they think they're due - either side, players or owners. They're all a bunch of big, rich babies.

I used to have some stat's here about my favorite NBA players, but like I said, I'm sick of hearing about all of it, so I no longer have any favorite players...they all stink.

I'll leave my link to the NBA site (above) just for those of you who have to go there.

NFL FOOTBALL!

There's almost no other way of relaxing that I enjoy more than lounging in my bean bag with a plate of nacho's and watching Football. How can you not love this game? Yeah, the players are paid million's of dollars to play a game, but they WORK for it! Big hits, big plays, fights - just plain raw emotion and athletic ability - It's Awesome!

The Broncos! Yah, I'm kind of a 'band wagoner'. Not entirely though. I am, after all, from Utah and Denver's the closest Pro team so we always kind of rooted for them as our home team. This is a classy team - I've always thought that Elway was the best QB and Shannon Sharp is as tough as nails. Terrell Davis...can't find the words. This guy has got to be superman in disguise. It's like everyone else is standing still. The guy is unstoppable. Practically the whole team is. I really think that they have a chance to go undefeated and win it all. I think it all comes down to the chemistry and friendship that they have within their team. They all want to do their best because they all feel an obligation to the TEAM. That's what sports is all about.

MOUNTAIN BIKING!

MOUNTAIN BIKING is fast becoming my passion! It's the coolest SPORT ever invented! Yes, SPORT! It takes all kinds of athletic ability; coordination, stamina, endurance...Try it and you'll see! It's interesting to see the cross section of society that you get in this sport. From the minimum wage or no wage student to the 'cream', if you will. At least society's interpretation of the 'cream' (lots of money, nice cars, etc.) What's funny is that for the most part, the guys with bikes on the lower end of the price range are the ones who really know how to ride and do it because they enjoy it. Then there's the 'cream' with their $3,000+ bikes who tip over every ten feet and puke their guts out every half a mile. I'm not trying to stereotype here, I know that this is not always the case, but most of the time it is.

I have a GT Backwoods-Aluminum Frame w/Mavic wheels, front suspension by Rockshox, rapid-fire shifters and an AVID V-Brake system. I got it for around $500.00. Not a small amount by my standards, but not outrageous either. It's super light and fast! I was a bit worried about the strength of the aluminum frame at first, but it's held up nicely. Besides, it's got a lifetime warranty so what do I have to lose? It handles the bumps and jumps with no trouble(could be the rider) and it's light weight makes it easy to control in the air. I'm still just a weekend warrior Mountain Biker so it's more than enough bike for me. I keep in shape for the weekends with hoops and short street rides during the week.
